Beginnings

In the fall of 2023, Yep!Moldova, in collaboration with the Alliance of Democracies Foundation and with financial support from USAID Moldova, organized the first Democracy Tech Hackathon.

This event brought together 10 talented teams and 10 innovative ideas, selected through a competitive process, with the Marmoris team emerging as the winner. Along with a financial prize, the team received mentorship from the Alliance of Democracies Foundation and an invitation to participate in the Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2024.

The entire team's participation at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2024 was made possible through financial support from Yep!Moldova and UN Women. Attending as a group was important, as it provided a unique opportunity for the youth of Moldova. At the summit, the Marmoris team impressed everyone once again, winning the People's Award and receiving $10,000.

They shared the stage with renowned global figures such as:

- Ursula von der Leyen, leader of the EPP for the presidency of the European Commission

- Mette Frederiksen, Prime Minister of Denmark

- Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group

- Jeanne Meserve, host of the NatSec Tech podcast and former presenter for CNN and ABC News

- Suzanne Lynch, author of Global Playbook and associate editor at POLITICO Europe

- Charles Michel, President of the European Council

This remarkable achievement highlights the potential of young Moldovan entrepreneurs and demonstrates their ability to innovate and positively influence the future of democracy.
